Cryobio has three types of vials available. It is important to note that all vial types are not available for every donor. Use Donor Search to see the type of vials available for each donor.
Vial types:
IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) vials are intended for insemination directly into the uterus. IUI vials can also be used for ART procedures such as IVF or ICSI. IUI vials do not contain seminal fluid, so the vial can be thawed and used immediately without any additional processing. While IUI vials are washed so they can be used for insemination into the uterus, they can also be used for home inseminations into the cervix.
ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) vials are intended for use in ICSI procedures. We do not recommend the use of ART vials for IUI or IVF. ART vials contain fewer motile sperm per vial, so a single vial may not be adequate for an IUI or IVF procedure.
ICI (Intracervical Insemination) vials contain seminal fluid along with the sperm cells. Without further processing, ICI vials are intended for insemination into the cervix only. However, an ICI vial that is thawed and washed using standard sperm washing procedures can be used for IUI or IVF. ICI vials are available on a limited number of donors.
